How To Style Your Curls In 20 Minutes Or Less

Do you have curly hair and no time to spare?

Do you feel like you don't have time to do your hair and makeup in the morning before work or school?

You are not alone. I know the struggle is real, but let's work together! This blog post will show you how to take care of your curls in 20 minutes or less. With these tips, we can all look good on little sleep.

Where to start (in the shower)...

Step 1 - Cleanse

Shampoo your hair twice, a.k.a ‘clean it real good’!  The better the foundation the longer-standing your result will beWhether you’re into a rich lather, something low-key (Low-Poo), or skipping the suds entirely (No-Poo), the choice is yours. Just make sure your hair is squeaky clean—it’s worth it!

Step 2 - Hydrate

Think less “coat my hair in thick conditioner” and more “teamwork makes the dream work” with conditioner + water. While your hair is drenched (like really dripping wet), use a hydrating conditioner—our Nourish & Flourish Conditioner is perfect. Work it through with your Detangling Flexi Brush to ensure every strand gets the hydration it needs.

This step is a lifesaver for curls that tend to act up (you know the ones). It’s all about getting the inside of your hair hydrated to keep the frizz at bay and the curls behaving.

Step 3 - Style

Here’s where the magic happens. Split your hair in half and grab a lightweight gel—like our Oomph Hydrating Gel. Use a 20-50 cent-sized dollop for each side and work it through your hair with your fingers. Start at the mids and ends, then go back to the roots. Follow up with the Flexi Brush to evenly distribute the product.

Want big, bouncy curls? Flip your head upside down and brush from roots to ends for some sky-high volume. Prefer something more subtle? Lean side-to-side and finger brush to create clumps in the size you love.

PRO TIP: the smaller the clumps = quicker drying time and more volume, VS. larger clump = less volume and longer wait time ‘til you're dry.

Step 4 - Dry

Scrunch your curls into shape with a non-fluffy fabric like our LOHY. Hydration Glove, a tea towel, or a cotton t-shirt. Think “slinky motion”: scrunch from ends to roots while gently pulsing like a stress ball. The more scrunching, the better the curl definition!

Now, you can choose to dry it with a diffuser or leave it to air dry, depending on the climate you live in! On my ultra lazy nights (we all have them) I diffuse for 2-3 mins and then gently tuck my curls into my LOHY. Sleep Cozy (similar to a buff) and let them dry overnight!

TIP: try not to touch or handle your curls too much while they dry, the more you fiddle, the more you disrupt the curls!

That’s it! No overcomplicating, no crazy routines—just good hair in less time than it takes to make breakfast.  I like to apply the KISS method…. Keep It Simple Stupid!!!

Stick with these steps, and you’ll walk out the door feeling amazing. Plus, you might even have a spare minute to sip that coffee before the school run. 😉
